When the guard confronted the man, the shoplifter pulled a knife, assumed a “fighting stance,” and threatened the guard to stay back. He then ran off. The stolen item was a tube of foot cream.

HOW GERMOPHOBIC ARE YOU? Recently, I over heard someone saying they were having lunch with a friend once and the person reached into his pocket to get his phone for a quick call to his wife. But he’d left his phone in the car. The friend offered to let him use theirs, but he told me, “No, I don’t use other people’s phones.” He was afraid of phone germs — big time. WACKY BUT TRUE: CLOTHING THIEF CAUGHT IN COLLECTION BIN... A German trying to steal clothes donated to charity was caught by police after he fell into the man-sized collection bin and got trapped. Arriving at the container, the officers saw two arms. The left hand held a cigarette and a voice yelled out, “Give me a light!” A passerby had alerted them after hearing strange noises coming from inside the metal bin late at night. Police refused to give the man a light, called the fire department to free him, then let him go after charging him with attempted robbery.

WACKY BUT TRUE: NEIGHBORS SCRUB DIRTY MAN... In Kenya, some people got so tired of one man being filthy all the time that they decided to clean him. Four neighbors grabbed the 52-year-old guy, tied him down, and washed him in public. Since the man hadn’t bathed in 10 years, the townspeople had to scrub him pretty well. Afterward, the man promised to wash himself every day in the hope that he could find a wife.

Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast
Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Knox and Leslie.

* WHEN...Until 1130 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of creeks, streams, especially in low-lying and
flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 811 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated pockets of heavy rain
still ongoing across portions of Clay, Knox, and Bell
counties. Excessive runoff will continue to cause high water
on creeks and streams, especiall in low lying areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Somerset, London, Monticello, Williamsburg, Barbourville,
Pineville, Manchester, Whitley City, Middlesboro, and
Burnside.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of some rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

- At 647 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing in the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

* At 744 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Wartburg, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
