THEATER TICKET PRICES CONTINUE TO CLIMB... Movie theater prices have risen again this year. The average price on average in the U.S. is $11.05 per ticket. That's up from 2021's $9.16. A standard ticket in New York City could cost over $23!

👶 NEWS ATTACK! A study has found that giving birth in a water bath does not increase the risk of complications for the baby or its mother. [So it’s safe if you want your new human’s first cannonball to happen on day 1.]

STUDY FINDS THERE’S NOTHING MOMS DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT.. There have been tons of studies about how important it is for all people to engage in self-care, whether it means exercising, relaxing, engaging in your favorite activity, or getting a little extra sleep. But finding time for yourself, especially when you’re in a relationship or a parent, can be extremely difficult, and a study found that even when moms do find the time to treat themselves, they are riddled with guilt about it. The study finds more parents (45%) than childless people (32%) say that they don’t have time to engage in caring for themselves. Also, it is unsurprising that singletons are more likely to make time for self-care regularly than those married or in a relationship (42% versus 30%). More moms than dads are more likely to feel overwhelmed (66% versus 53%) and burnt out (54% versus 43%).

🚗 IT TAKES NEW DRIVERS ONLY 10 WEEKS TO BECOME A BAD DRIVER... After passing their driving test, it takes someone just ten weeks to become a bad driver. A study of 2,000 car owners found the average new road user lets bad habits creep in less than three months after getting their driver's license. The two things we do almost immediately are not holding the steering wheel in the correct position and failing to check our mirrors every time we make a lane change. Only 40% of women and 32% of men believe they have bad driving habits.

📱 WACKY BUT TRUE: THIEF HANGS ON TO PHONE... In the UK, a guy broke into a home and stole several items, including a smartphone. The next day, he used that phone to call himself a cab. He didn’t know that the phone he had stolen belonged to a cab driver for the cab company he had called. The phone operator recognized the cabbie’s name on the caller ID and, aware of the break-in, sent the cops rather than a cab.

NEWS ATTACK! A study found ordinary citizens can start to mirror the angry emotions of their favorite politicians. [Another reason we need Dolly Parton to run for office.]

NEW FATHERS GAIN WEIGHT... A study says men gain a few pounds after they become fathers. The study looked at information from more than 10,000 U.S. men who were followed from their teen years until their mid-30's. About one-third of the men became fathers during the study period and upon entering fatherhood, men living with their children saw a 2.6% increase in their body mass index (BMI). The average weight gain was just over 4 pounds.

WACKY BUT TRUE: PRISON USES DUMMY TO GUARD INMATES... Two men escaped prison in Argentina after only two of the fifteen guard towers were manned. One tower had a crudely-made dummy inside which didn’t fool the prisoners. The dummy was made out of a football and a prison officer’s cap and placed in a tower.

FEWER THAN HALF OF DIVORCEES REMAIN FRIENDS... A survey of 1,000 divorced adults found 49% weren’t able to maintain a positive relationship with their former spouse. What’s your relationship like with your ex spouse?

WOMEN HAVE DIRTIER CARS... A study suggests that more than half of all women go at least six months between washing their cars. The study found that about 56% of women surveyed let their cars go unwashed for more than six months. By comparison, 44% of the men surveyed were willing to go that long between washings.

When the family visited their mountain cabin they discovered a big hole in the yard in place of the swimming pool that had been installed 20 years ago. Their pool, 16 feet in diameter, was uprooted and stolen.

🚨 WACKY BUT TRUE: LONELY OLD GUY KEEPS CALLING 911... An elderly man in the United Kingdom who repeatedly called for an ambulance complaining of a sore throat was jailed for six months. The 76-ear-old dialed 911 (999 across the pond) a total of 42 times. On one occasion he dialed emergency services and demanded paramedics come immediately — when one was already in his house.

Some vandals use crowbars or bricks to smash car windows, but a guy in Spain used a frozen steak. A laptop and other valuables were taken. The frozen steak was left behind on the car’s front seat.

First, the world record for the longest duration balancing a lawnmower on the chin (non-powered) is 30 minutes and 33 seconds. This record was achieved by David Rush in Boise, Idaho, in 2021.
