FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 4, 2026

Brown County Sheriff’s Office

On March 4, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Eastern Brown High School received a reported threat involving the school.

Deputies from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately to the scene. Assisting agencies included troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, members of the Eastern Joint Fire District, and the Miami Township Police Department K-9 Unit.

As a precautionary measure, both Eastern Brown High School and Eastern Brown Middle School were placed on lockdown while law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation and secured the area.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that approximately 35 similar threats were reported to schools throughout the State of Ohio around the same time. Authorities are coordinating efforts with state and local partners to investigate the source of these threats. The investigation into the origin of the threat affecting Eastern Brown Schools remains ongoing.

Following an extensive search and investigation, no credible threat was located at the school. Once the scene was determined to be safe, students and staff were released to resume their normal school day activities.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the staff and students for their cooperation, professionalism, and calm handling of the situation. We also appreciate the coordinated response and support from our partnering agencies in ensuring the safety of our community.

The safety of our schools remains a top priority, and we will continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure a secure learning environment for all students.
