Visiting the Jamestown Museum and Settlement! The museum sets the stage for this epic site. The tour of the Native American and Colonial villages filled with reenactors, bonfires and a working metalsmith really bring you back in time to the roots of America. The bald eagle sighting couldn’t have been more timely!

Montreal is an old city with a very modern flavor. The architecture that’s been preserved here is astounding. So many beautiful and ornate buildings from bygone eras still exist. We put our beers in the rafters at Centre Bell and toured Norte Dame.

We rode the big Ferris Wheel downtown and enjoyed the much warmer temps “in the south.” Montreal is much more modern than Quebec City, but both have maintained their ties to the past extremely well.

Je me souviens. What a trip. Quebec City is Old World. We spent two and a half days exploring the walled city on the banks of the St Lawrence The city is more than 400 years old and much of that era remains.

The French culture dominates and the people couldn’t have been more gracious. Put this place on your list. We felt like we were living in a snow globe. The temps were freezing but the snowfall and the cold only added to the magic.

Part two of the trip was to Montreal. That’s up next…

From White Top to Abingdon, we conquered all 34.3 mi of the . Chilly weather, colorful leaves and unforgettable views, this trip down had it all.

Next day, we hiked the Twin Pinnacles in Grayson Highlands. At this elevation, the foliage reached peak color and you could see forever and beyond.
