2021. Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Grover's Alpine Express. 24 feet tall, sleigh-themed, kid-friendly — and apparently terrifying.

Camera on my wrist so I could catch her face. She goes from curious to pure panic in half a second. I see it on the screen and lose it laughing. She did not think it was funny.

It took two years of coaxing, bribing with funnel cake, and sitting out rides together to break that fear.

Fast forward to now: she rides Fury 325 solo — 325 feet, 95 mph — and Top Thrill 2 — 420 feet, 120 mph triple-launch — hands up, no dad required.

Father's Day isn't about being the hero on the ride. It's about being the guy who laughs at the wrong time, apologizes after, and keeps showing up until she's braver than you ever were. Love you, kiddo. Thanks for letting me be your first coaster buddy.
