A better look at potential accumulation amounts for today. ❄️ 🌨️

Accumulating lake effect snow is expected across parts of northern Michigan into tonight. Highest amounts of 3-6” are expected across areas near/west of Grand Traverse Bay and eastern Cheboygan, Presque Isle, and Emmet counties with localized totals of 6”+ possible. High snowfall rates and rapid drops in visibility may lead to hazardous travel conditions.

Lake effect snowfall will begin to spread this evening with the highest snowfall rates expected overnight tonight throughout the day Sunday. Accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected for locations near Lake Huron and Michigan shorelines by Sunday night with locally higher amounts remaining possible.

Getting a better picture of some potential snowfall amounts for this weekend. ❄️

Our first accumulating lake effect snow potential arrives later this evening into Monday, targeting areas near the Lake Michigan and Huron shorelines. Localized amounts of 6” or more are possible under heaviest bands. However, uncertainty still exists in where bands are expected to set up later tonight and Sunday – which will have a big impact on who sees the highest totals. A combination of slushy snow accumulations on roads and rapid drops in visibility may lead to hazardous travel, so be sure to stay up to date on the latest forecast!
