Here is a sweet little silver coin I found while metal detecting with my friend Matt yesterday. It's called a Barber dime and named after the person who designed it. They were issued between the years 1892 and 1916. The "O" on the reverse side indicates that it was minted at the New Orleans branch of the U.S. Mint. It's said to be one of the most favorite coins for collectors. Is it your favorite coin?

How old do you think this ring might be? I found it at a very site (early 1700s) and it seems to be a rather unique, crude and old looking design. What do you think? Any guesses?

I detected along a river where I have found some very old relics and even some Civil War items. On this trip I discovered what I believe to be a very old ring, possibly around 300 years. I don't know for sure and need to do some more research.

Today we go metal detecting underwater in the river. I search around and find Civil War relics, coins, colonial buttons and bottles including a nice Blob Top bottle, a catfish and a few carp. It was nice to see river wildlife in its natural habitat and river nature at its finest. The metal detector worked great in the river finding the metal coins, relics and buttons, of course, I had to use my eyes for the bottles, catfish and carp.
