Mayor David Henson has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Williamstown.

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION
June 18, 2026
To the Residents of Williamstown:
As Mayor of the City of Williamstown, Kentucky, and pursuant to the authority vested in me to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens, I hereby declare a State of Emergency for the City of Williamstown effective June 18, 2026.
This declaration is necessitated by severe weather that has impacted our community, resulting in widespread damage throughout the city. Numerous reports of downed trees, fallen limbs, structural damage, and downed power lines have been received. Additionally, intermittent road closures and hazardous travel conditions continue to exist in various areas of the city.
City Public Works personnel, utility crews, emergency responders, and partner agencies are actively assessing damage, clearing roadways, restoring essential services, and addressing public safety concerns. These crews are working aggressively and diligently to return conditions to normal as quickly and safely as possible.
I respectfully ask for the patience and cooperation of all residents during this emergency response and recovery effort. For your safety, please observe the following precautions:
• Stay off roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary.
• Never approach or attempt to move downed power lines.
• Avoid areas experiencing high water or flooding.
• Report gas leaks, utility outages, and other hazards immediately to utility provider.
• Exercise caution around damaged structures, fallen trees, and debris.
• Follow all instructions issued by emergency personnel and local officials.
The safety of our residents remains our highest priority. We appreciate the dedication of our first responders, utility workers, public works employees, and volunteers who are assisting in this response effort.
Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and commitment to keeping our community safe during this emergency.
sincerely,
David A. Henson, Mayor
City of Williamstown, Kentucky
