Here's how you can test your audio to see if you can hit the repeater. We haven't had any luck finding a spot to put it on Hatcher Pass, but coverage around Willow is good.

We hope you're having a relaxing Memorial Day weekend while we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We're hoping to do an antenna upgrade this summer so that'll help the range. We've heard a few people using the repeater and some antenna upgrades will help a few more people reach it.

Just a heads up that we will take the repeater offline if Mt Spurr erupts and the ash heads this way. There are no air filters for the equipment cooling fans and we don't want ash sucked into the electronics. Expensive repeater components and volcanic ash wouldn't mix well.

The repeater passed the emergency backup battery power test! We needed the extension cord for another project and forgot to plug it back in, oops. It lasted nine days on backup power and was still working great on the 8th day, so it did great considering the Temps we had during that time too.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that we could reach the repeater from the Glenn at the high spot by Chugiak. It wasn't a good signal, but we could hit it. Once we get some more antenna height next summer it will get even better.

This cold and dry weather has helped the range out for the winter. Coverage ended around mp 62 before and now it goes south to Big Lake Road. We haven't went north so I'm not sure about that direction. We're still hoping to find a place on Hatcher Pass to get more elevation and coverage.

We got a chance to test the repeater on the Willow side of Hatcher Pass and it has good mobile coverage. Handheld coverage is spotty in lower areas.

So far we found that coverage stops at about MP 62 on the Parks. We haven't had a chance to test too far towards the Talkeetna direction yet.

We hope to have our system on Echolink sometime in the future using a link radio so we can disable it remotely if needed. We had it mostly working previously a few years ago, but had to stop work on it to move.

This is how the autopatch or radio telephone interconnect (RTI) works. This was a previous system that I built, but we bought the same controller for our new system and added an audio delay board to ours.

A look at how to use an Autopatch (AKA Radio Telephone Interconnect "RTI") to make a phone call over the radio.
