Catholics weren't called Catholics until there was a need to differentiate between different groups. Catholics are the original Christians in that we have kept with apostolic teachings from the 1st Century onward. When YOU read that different doctrines were "invented" in the centuries after Christ by the Catholic Church, it is not accurate. The teachings by year that we see weren't invented all of a sudden at different councils. Councils were convened to defend existing doctrines and to refute heretical doctrines.

Crazy how many people think Tyndale was murdered by the Catholic Church, when a) the Catholic Church had no authority to condemn anyone to death, the highest form of punishment the church could impose is excommunication. Only a seculat court had the authority to condemn anyone to death. The church only excommunicated Tyndale because he translated the bible into english without a papal or apostolic mandate, which was required. There were already english bibles in circulation at the time. Tyndale was murdered on behalf of King Henry VIII for being openly vocal about opposing Henry's annulment to Catherine of Aragon.

Every time I hear someone call a Christian holiday pagan, or adopted and converted from paganism, I just wanna be like St Nicholas and slap a heretic.

Not that I agree with the Pope 100% or even understand what he was trying to say. But I genuinely think that some of yall would be a tad jealous or aggravated at best, or angry and resentful at worst if you got to heaven and found that through the power of Jesus' spilled blood, some who are Hindu, Muslim, Buddhists, etc made it into heaven as well. Most are awfully quick to assume and pass judgment, and I'm certainly not saying "not to judge" which many misuse anyway, but many are certainly trying to play God by saying someone is condemned.

From the First Apology of St. Justin Martyr, c. 155 AD

“ No one may share the Eucharist with us unless he believes that what we teach is true, unless he is washed in the regenerating waters of baptism for the remission of his sins, and unless he lives in accordance with the principles given us by Christ.

We do not consume the eucharistic bread and wine as if it were ordinary food and drink, for we have been taught that as Jesus Christ our Savior became a man of flesh and blood by the power of the Word of God, so also the food that our flesh and blood assimilates for its nourishment becomes the flesh and blood of the incarnate Jesus by the power of his own words contained in the prayer of thanksgiving.

Today, Catholic Churches worldwide are remembering the Transfiguration of Our Lord. These are the NT readings for today: Reading II
2 PT 1:16-19
Beloved:
We did not follow cleverly devised myths
when we made known to you
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received honor and glory from God the Father
when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory,
“This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”
We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven
while we were with him on the holy mountain.
Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable.
You will do well to be attentive to it,
as to a lamp shining in a dark place,
until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Alleluia
MT 17:5
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
Mk 9:2-10
Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John,
and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them,
and his clothes became dazzling white,
such as no fuller on earth could bleach them.
Then Elijah appeared to them along with Moses,
and they were conversing with Jesus.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply,
“Rabbi, it is good that we are here!
Let us make three tents:
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
He hardly knew what to say, they were so terrified.
Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them;
from the cloud came a voice,
“This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”
Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone
but Jesus alone with them.

As they were coming down from the mountain,
he charged them not to relate what they had seen to anyone,
except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
So they kept the matter to themselves,
questioning what rising from the dead meant.

Our Lady, Queen of the Knights, bless all the activities of our Order. Keep us true to our pledge, to extend the kingship of thy divine son on earth. Through Thine intercession, win for us the grace, ever to exemplify in our public and private lives, the virtues that should characterize those especially dedicated to the service of the heavenly court. Make us always aware that as your Knights, we are constantly observed, our faith judged, and our Order appreciated. Accept, O Mary, this renewed pledge of fealty and devotion, of Thy Servants, the Knights of Columbus.

Confiteor

Confíteor Deo omnipoténti,
et vobis fratres,
quia peccávi nimis
cogitatióne, verbo
ópere et omissióne:
mea culpa, mea culpa,
mea máxima culpa.
Ideo precor beátam Maríam semper Vírginem,
omnes Angelos et Sanctos,
et vos fratres,
oráre pro me ad Dóminum Deum nostrum.

I Confess

I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen.

I wonder why it is that Satanists are always stealing consecrated hosts from the Catholic Church? It's as if they know that the consecrated hosts are the true flesh of Jesus and connects the Last Supper with the Sacrifice on the Cross....

2 Tm 2:8-15
Beloved:
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David:
such is my Gospel, for which I am suffering,
even to the point of chains, like a criminal.
But the word of God is not chained.
Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen,
so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus,
together with eternal glory.
This saying is trustworthy:

If we have died with him
we shall also live with him;
if we persevere
we shall also reign with him.
But if we deny him
he will deny us.
If we are unfaithful
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny himself.

Remind people of these things
and charge them before God to stop disputing about words.
This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen.
Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God,
a workman who causes no disgrace,
imparting the word of truth without deviation.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son,
our Lord,
who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again
from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand
of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge
the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

The only thing pagan about Easter is the resemblance to the Germanic name of a pagan goddess. This is because the celebration occurred in the month named after that goddess. Easter Eggs come from the breaking of the Lenten fast/abstinence from meat. In non English speaking countries, the celebration is called Pascha. Don't be misinformed, celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord in any of the Christian practices that have been observed for near 2000 years.

The oldest Marian prayer comes from the 2nd century AD

We fly to thy protection,
O holy Mother of God.
Despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Sub tuum præsídium confúgimus, Sancta Dei Génetrix:
nostras deprecatiónes ne despícias in necessitátibus,
sed a perículis cunctis líbera nos semper,
Virgo gloriósa et benedícta. Amen.

Not only is today St Valentine's Day it is also Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. For the unwashed, Lent is the 40 day period between Ash Wednesday and Easter. It is a liturgical season in which, as a church we offer up to God sacrifices of different things: we give up certain things to give to God. For example: one may give up alcohol or candy and offer the money spent to God in the offering plate in aspirin to your normal offering. Or one could give up watching TV or sports or anything that consumes time and offer that time to God by volunteering at church or by spending the extra time in prayer or study. Just like Christmas, Jesus is the reason for the season. And we look forward to celebrate His resurrection just as we look forward to our own resurrection. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate this Lent, may it bring you closer to Christ.

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit
was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy,
catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
