Many game development studios face two major challenges: how to attract A-players to the company and how to effectively integrate new employees into the corporate culture. Today, we will share how we managed to assemble a large team of strong specialists from various fields, unite them around a common idea, and motivate them for effective collaboration.
According to HR analysts, the job market has shifted to favor employers. In many industries, this is indeed the case: there are more candidates than job openings, and their expectations at the start have become more modest. However, we believe that there are only a few professionals who are truly passionate about their work – these are unique individuals. Just like excellent team players, they are an incredible asset. For companies that create serious gaming products, finding and retaining such specialists is an important strategic task.
We made the initial decision to establish our development center in Almaty, a city where our company was founded. Kazakhstan has enormous potential, and whether it is to be realized on a national scale depends on every IT company. It presents an interesting and inspiring challenge for us.
We not only started attracting highly skilled international professionals but also relocated and seamlessly integrated them with the existing team. We quickly expanded our expertise in all areas. We are constantly searching for new talent but are very careful in their onboarding process. Our goal is to preserve the atmosphere of trust and enthusiasm.
Currently, an office-based work format is optimal for us. It allows us to control timelines, maintain flexibility and iteration, rapidly train juniors, and cultivate the right corporate culture. To achieve this, we organize internal tournaments and training, both in specialized and non-specialized areas, and encourage shared hobbies and team sports. It's amazing when these efforts enhance productivity and foster team spirit. It's a kind of magic that is challenging to create but pleasant to work with.
