A Wilmington property that has sat vacant for more than a decade could soon have a new look. 🏘️

Plans are moving forward for Covil Village, a new community expected to bring 65 three-bedroom townhomes to a 5.4-acre site along Covil Avenue.

Here’s what we know so far:

🏗️ Construction is expected to begin this September
🏡 The community will be built in four phases
📅 The first homes are expected to be completed in 2027
🌳 Plans were adjusted following neighborhood input to preserve more trees and create a larger buffer
💰 Pricing has not yet been announced

The property was previously home to an assisted living facility that closed in 2013 and has remained vacant since.

Sometimes the right advice or connection can change the direction of a career. 🤝

At UNCW’s Cameron Executive Network, more than 400 business students are connected with experienced professionals who help them prepare for what comes after college. From resumes and mock interviews to networking and career planning.

Kim Nelson has spent more than a decade mentoring through the program and now helps lead an effort that has reached more than 7,000 students since 2002.

And the network is continuing to look for business professionals interested in becoming mentors.

This Sept. 11 marks 25 years since the attacks that took nearly 3,000 lives and forever changed our country.

Around Wilmington and across North Carolina, communities will gather to remember those who lost their lives and honor the first responders, service members and others whose lives were forever shaped by that day. 🇺🇸

We’ve gathered six meaningful ways to commemorate the anniversary, including remembrance ceremonies close to Wilmington, permanent memorials, a Field of Honor and opportunities to give back through service.

Brunswick County’s housing market just had its strongest June in at least 20 years. 🏡

A total of 720 homes sold in June, up more than 26% from the same month last year. And sales weren’t the only thing climbing:

📈 Total sales volume reached $383.4 million
🏠 38% of homes sold were new construction
💰 62 properties sold for $1 million or more
📊 Average sale prices rose to more than $532,000

The numbers add to an already strong 2026 for one of Southeastern North Carolina’s fastest-growing housing markets.
