Every monument has a story.

For Valley Forge Park Alliance volunteer and Muster Roll contributor John W. Whiteside III, those stories became a two-year journey of exploration, research, and discovery.

His new book, “Valley Forge Monuments: Soldiers, History, Lore,” takes readers beyond the familiar landmarks to uncover the history behind 52 monuments throughout Valley Forge National Historical Park, revealing the people, sacrifices, and memories preserved in stone.

A beautiful reminder that history is not only found in textbooks. It surrounds us, waiting to be noticed, remembered, and shared.

Kudos to on this magnificent restoration of a fieldstone bank barn from the early 1700s. Once part of the Grubb family's substantial holdings, it is now a CSA-style dairy farm!
