Less than an hour left in the Books In Bags event. After 2 today, you will have to stop by the library and peruse the books available for a donation during regular library hours. The adult room is on the left just inside the library entrance and children’s books are available on a shelf to the right in the main hallway. Good reading!

So I have a word that is totally in this category...Awry...you will have to come in and ask me how I pronounce it. Adam's late brother Brian also had a word he famously mispronounced...manure...can anyone guess what book he was reading? Come in and see us for more words people in our family can't pronounce....open 10-6 Wednesday-Saturday

Wilmington Friends of the Library
Plans Annual Books In Bags Event

Mark your calendars for The Friends of the Wilmington Public Library’s (FOL) Annual Books In Bags Event at the library, 268 N. South St., Wilmington, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 14.

Those attending can bring their own bags or use those provided to bag books from a wide selection of titles for children, young adults and adults. Please enter the Library Avenue entrance of the library. (Note: A flyer for this event incorrectly indicated those attending should enter the main library entrance on Birdsall Street.)

The Friends of the Wilmington Public Library is a volunteer group that collects, stocks and rotates books that are available at the library for a monetary donation (but not for re-sale).

Cash donations are also appreciated for this special event to help continue the activities of the group, which also supports the library with other projects and equipment purchases.

The FOL adult book room is located to the immediate left upon entering the main entrance of the library. FOL children and young adult books are available on a bookshelf across the room from the circulation desk.

The group welcomes new members who can assist with regular activities and special events and attend meetings at 2:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month in Kirk Room A.

The group also has a page and group president Jim Hayslip can be contacted at (937) 556-8204 if interested in becoming involved.

WHS Graduate Emma Adams Awarded Scholarship
Which Honors Late Veteran Randy Harris, 1971 WHS Grad

WILMINGTON, Ohio—New Wilmington High School graduate Emma Adams was awarded the $500 Randall J. Harris Scholarship in graduation ceremonies in May.

Miss Adams served as a student mentor and leader in Check and Connect and the Leadership Clinton Youth Collaborative and was an integral part of the soccer and golf teams. She is planning to play soccer at Heidelberg University and major in Criminology.

The Harris Scholarship honors the memory of one of Wilmington’s own graduates. Harris, a 1971 graduate of WHS, was a staff sergeant for the United States Army, who was killed at the age of 34 in a non-hostile, peace-time incident in Honduras on June 13, 1987.

Harris was a military police guard patrolling the perimeter of the Palmerola Air Force Base when he was shot by a Honduran solider. The base was used to stage training exercises for about 1,200 U.S. regular, reserve and National Guard forces.

Ironically, Harris was killed on the nine-year anniversary of beginning his military career at Fort McClellan, Ala.

The Harris scholarship is awarded annually to a WHS senior whose qualifications include graduating in the upper third of the class; who shows positive attributes of leadership, service and character; and who may or may not demonstrate financial need.

Contributions to the fund can be made to the scholarship in care of the Clinton County Foundation, POB 831, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
