Surrounded by their favorite people (and yes… their pups 🐾 Shadow & Talli absolutely stole the show, as they should), this celebration in the middle of farmland felt far more like a family reunion than a formal event. There was laughter, dancing under the open sky, fireworks lighting up the night, the kind of joy that only happens when everyone under the tent truly belongs there.

On a deeply meaningful note, Brian’s mom, Nancy, passed away from cancer just a few months after this wedding. Seeing her in this film — laughing, radiant, fully present — is priceless. It’s a quiet reminder of why capturing these moments matters more than we ever realize in the moment.

Because Kevin, a trusted Life Stage Films associate filmmaker of nearly 10 years, was there capturing every beat, I was able to be fully present, celebrating, laughing, and soaking it all in alongside the people who love Brian & Isabelle most. And every one of those moments — the hugs, the dancing, the joy — lives on in this film.

This is what a wedding film is really about.
Not perfection. Not production.
But people. Presence. And memories that last.

There’s something about Philip and Emily that you can’t fake, the kind of chemistry that doesn’t just show up on camera, it radiates.
At The Grove Park Inn, surrounded by the burnished colors of a Blue Ridge fall, they laughed, danced, and looked at each other like no one else existed. Because honestly, no one else did.

You can’t manufacture that kind of connection I’ve filmed weddings for nearly two decades, and sometimes you just know.

And just when you think the night can’t get better, the band kicks in, shirts come off, the dance floor ignites, and joy spills out everywhere.

Will + Madeleine

There’s something magical about filming two people whose entire lives are built around movement, grace, and artistry. As professional dancers, Will and Madeleine didn’t just walk through their wedding day, they floated. Every moment felt choreographed by something bigger. The way he looked at her, the way she smiled back, the way their first dance brought the entire room to a standstill.

The kind of night where the dance floor stays full, shoes come off, and joy takes over every inch of the room.

Sycamore Bend Estates, with its horses grazing in the distance, and golden light pouring over the farm was the perfect backdrop for their story.

It was elegant.
It was artistic.
It was alive.

Some moments at a wedding are unforgettable… and some are unimaginable. At the height of a summer evening at the Biltmore’s Deerpark, a family friend read a letter written decades ago by the bride’s father. Words he penned before he passed. There wasn’t a dry eye under the tent.

But beyond the beauty of the Estate and the power of that moment, what made this day unforgettable was the people. The laughter between friends, the hugs that lingered, the clinking of glasses, the high fives on the dance floor and the heartbeat of a close-knit tribe that loves deeply.

As the bride told us after seeing her film for the first time:�“Oh my gosh we love it. OBSESSED with it!! Fletcher even got a little teary the second time. It is perfect. I made Fletcher watch it twice already and I wouldn’t be surprised if I watched it 2 more times minimum tonight!!

A Legacy Film "backfired" on me. Sometimes the “process” I’ve spent years refining surprises me, and reminds me why I do this in the first place.

What began as a structured Legacy Film "interview" a few weeks ago with Dr. Mike Carrigan (or “Doc,” as I now call him) quickly turned into something deeper. This is a behind the scenes clip of a quick convo between us that HIT ME RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES. He came to me as a complete stranger, booking me (Life Stage Films) from a Facebook ad. But through this conversation, walls fell, stories opened up, and suddenly I wasn’t just documenting his legacy, I was being invited into it.

This is what Legacy Films are really about. They remind us that when we sit down and really listen, strangers can become friends, and stories can become bridges across generations. Meeting Doc wasn’t an accident. Conversations like this never are.Enjoy. I am accepting 5-10 individuals or families this Fall to get on our Legacy Films calendar. Some weddings feel like they could only happen in one place… and for Kathryn & Andre, that place was home.

Beneath the wide Carolina sky, surrounded by the fields Kathryn grew up running through, and the walls of the church that shaped their faith, two worlds came together — Statesville farm girl and a big-hearted South African man who wears his love for her like a badge of honor.

Fun Fact - You'll see that Andre didn't even wait for the officiant to say "You may now kiss the bride!" He just went for it!

They didn’t want a production. No staged moments. No stiff poses. Just the real stuff. The marshmallow bribes that got the ring bearers down the aisle. The proud smiles from parents looking on proudly. The laughter of bridesmaids with a little hair and makeup done in between. The quiet squeeze of a hand before saying “I do.”

Because in the end, that’s what lasts. Faces you love. Faith that guides you. And a love story so big, it feels like it could stretch from Carolina to Cape Town without losing an ounce of its warmth.

Michael connected with us to film his grandmother’s Legacy Film interview back in 2009. At the time, it felt like a good idea. Something he wanted to do for his kids. (It was our second Legacy Film!)
