Some weddings feel like a celebration. This one felt like a family reunion.

Katie and Hunter’s wedding day in Wilmington was surrounded by the kind of love that has been building for a lifetime.
From the historic beauty of First Presbyterian Church downtown, to an unforgettable celebration at Cape Fear Country Club, every moment of the day felt deeply rooted in family, friendship, and the community that raised them.
And if you watched closely throughout the day, one thing became very clear-
Hunter absolutely adores Katie.
You could see it in the way he looked at her. The way he pursued her onto the dance floor all night long. The way his words during the private vows carried the kind of love that only grows when two people truly grow up together.
The toasts told the story even deeper.
Stories of a sister who loves fiercely. A daughter whose light fills every room. A couple who makes each other better, calmer, bolder, and stronger.
It was one of those rare weddings where you could feel that this marriage is supported by an entire village of people who have loved them their whole lives.

With Sleeping B***y Band leading the charge, the dance floor stayed packed while friends and family celebrated the newest chapter in Katie and Hunter’s story.
For us, this wedding was especially meaningful.
We had the honor of filming Katie’s sister’s wedding during Covid in 2020, and somewhere along the way Betsy and Russell jokingly decided we were part of the family too. Being welcomed back to capture another Herring family celebration means more to me than words can say.
Katie and Hunter — thank you for trusting us again to preserve these memories.

What a weekend!

We were honored to yet again be involved with the association with the Wilmington, NC region Cape Fear Heart Ball.

We have donated our services in the past, but this one was a bit more personal. We eagerly gave away a “Legacy Film”.

Full disclosure // I ALSO wanted to show off the gorgeous woman next to me that chooses to do life with me and encourages me to be a better man. We had a blast getting dressed up, celebrating with local friends and colleagues and smiled ear to ear not only that we are bringing more awareness to Legacy Films, but that we can give to an amazing cause that’s making a visible and substantial impact.

The rehearsal dinner is where the stories live.

It’s where a father reveals the moment he knew his little girl had found the right man.

Where a best man tells the unfiltered version of how far they’ve come.

Where lifelong friends share the kind of stories that don’t make it into vows, but somehow mean just as much.

A photograph can capture the smile.

Surrounded by their favorite people (and yes… their pups 🐾 Shadow & Talli absolutely stole the show, as they should), this celebration in the middle of farmland felt far more like a family reunion than a formal event. There was laughter, dancing under the open sky, fireworks lighting up the night, the kind of joy that only happens when everyone under the tent truly belongs there.

On a deeply meaningful note, Brian’s mom, Nancy, passed away from cancer just a few months after this wedding. Seeing her in this film — laughing, radiant, fully present — is priceless. It’s a quiet reminder of why capturing these moments matters more than we ever realize in the moment.

Because Kevin, a trusted Life Stage Films associate filmmaker of nearly 10 years, was there capturing every beat, I was able to be fully present, celebrating, laughing, and soaking it all in alongside the people who love Brian & Isabelle most. And every one of those moments — the hugs, the dancing, the joy — lives on in this film.

This is what a wedding film is really about.
Not perfection. Not production.
But people. Presence. And memories that last.

There’s something about Philip and Emily that you can’t fake, the kind of chemistry that doesn’t just show up on camera, it radiates.
At The Grove Park Inn, surrounded by the burnished colors of a Blue Ridge fall, they laughed, danced, and looked at each other like no one else existed. Because honestly, no one else did.

You can’t manufacture that kind of connection I’ve filmed weddings for nearly two decades, and sometimes you just know.

Will + Madeleine

There’s something magical about filming two people whose entire lives are built around movement, grace, and artistry. As professional dancers, Will and Madeleine didn’t just walk through their wedding day, they floated. Every moment felt choreographed by something bigger. The way he looked at her, the way she smiled back, the way their first dance brought the entire room to a standstill.

The kind of night where the dance floor stays full, shoes come off, and joy takes over every inch of the room.

Sycamore Bend Estates, with its horses grazing in the distance, and golden light pouring over the farm was the perfect backdrop for their story.
