I’m so proud of Eamon Doyle who sang in the semi-final rounds of the NATS National Student Audition competition held at Temple University in Philadelphia! He was one of 15 (in his category and age level) chosen to compete at this level after 5 rounds of judging! Eamon sang his personal best! I’m so thankful for my friend, Ayumi Nakame. Ayumi is a fellow voice teacher who also accompanied Eamon on piano for his audition. What a rare and wonderful opportunity!

Photos from the end of year Hoggard choir concert for my students and end of year piano recital for my son, who is also my voice student. So much joy! Graduating seniors-Jack Blanchard (CFCC) and Hans Graham Westermark (Abilene Christian University-voice performance), and Tristan Condon is off to NC School of the Arts. Our end of year studio recital is Sunday, June 15th 4pm at St. James Episcopal Church. All are welcome and invited to attend.

I wonder what Jars we would have in my voice studio? Might be a fun way to work on technique! Jars could be: 1. Connect notes with slide/legato 2. Low body breath 3. Release jaw/tongue
Give each student 10 tokens and for every lesson. Every time they forget 1, 2, or 3, the pay the jar a token. Then have a reward system for remaining tokens. It would also be an interesting experiment.

Just finished a week of rehearsals with the Maestro for Don Giovanni and our director overheard the singers saying how much they owed to the jars for glottals, portamenti, etc, so he made actual jars! 😂

I was not able to track all my students down who did such a beautiful job preparing for Nats auditions this year. I did get a photo with Eamon Doyle and with my son Hans Graham Westermark. Caroline Braza, Malena Born, and Nilin Pavate also had great auditions this year! I’m so proud 🥹 of all your hard work.

My Voice Studio

I have been teaching students for the past 25 years, and I love to see my students excel while falling in love with Classical music. I teach voice using multiple modalities to best suit each student’s learning style. I incorporate yoga, physical therapy, and exercise equipment to teach different concepts to the students. The students give concerts 2-3 times a year, compete in The National Association Student Auditions, and get recruited by the top music conservatories and colleges.
