As our 2025-26 internship comes to a close, we're reflecting with so much gratitude. ✨️

Over the academic school year, our interns brought creativity, curiosity, care, and fresh perspective to Portray'd Productions. From supporting creative development, assisting on set, creating content and volunteering at local film festivals they became an important part of our journey!

At Portray'd, we believe in pouring into the next generation of storytellers, especially those committed to preserving and celebrating Black Southern narratives. Watching these creatives grow in confidence and craft has been such a rewarding experience.

Thank you Leilani & Danielle for your hardworking, collaboration, and heart. We can't wait to see where your journeys take you next!🖤🎬

Who's Ya People is an Official Selection of the 16th Annual Charlotte Black Film Festival and will be screening as part of the festival's virtual program👩🏿‍💻🖤

So excited to bring this story to the Queen City and celebrate alongside so many talented Black filmmakers and creatives.✨️

WE'RE IN 🎬🔥

Who's Ya People is officially heading to the North Carolina Black Film Festival!

So excited to be in a space that Celebrates Black voices, Black Stories, and the power of showing up and showing out🖤✨️

Come check it out as part of the "So You Want to be Grown?" Block on Saturday, May 2nd @ 4 pm at Jengos Playhouse.

Big news ✨

Our web series pilot Who’s Ya People will be screening on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 10 AM at Thalian Hall as part of the “Growing Pains – Coming of Age” block.

So excited to share this story on the big screen alongside so many incredible projects. If you’re in Wilmington, come out and experience the laughs, the awkward moments, and the journey of figuring out exactly who your people are.

We are so excited to announce that we are a recipient of the "Joy James aka Livity the Poet" Memorial Grant for our web series project, Who's Ya People. We are so honored for the support from Cinema Sisters and can't wait for the Cinema Sisters International Film Festival May 20-22.

Cinema Sisters is so proud to announce the recipients of our very first grants. We were overwhelmed with applications and our grant committee did a spectacular job of choosing two very capable filmmakers! Congratulations to Debbie Vu (Ma's Kitchen) & Anna Ray (Who's Ya People). Debbie & Anna will each receive $1000 for their projects. ❤
