🚨 SCHOOL SHOOTING PLOT ALLEGEDLY STOPPED IN PLAINFIELD 🚨
Authorities say a potentially tragic situation was prevented after a family member intervened and called 911 when they discovered a juvenile relative armed with a firearm.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the teen allegedly intended to carry out an attack at Grand Prairie Elementary School in Plainfield Township. Deputies responded to a residence on Helmar Lane on May 22 and took the juvenile into custody.
Investigators say deputies recovered a handgun, multiple loaded magazines, knives, an accelerant, gloves, and other items. Officials state the juvenile admitted his intentions to first responders.
No students, staff, or community members were harmed.
After receiving medical evaluation while in custody, the juvenile was formally charged today with Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Making a Terrorist Threat, and multiple weapons-related offenses. He is currently being held pending a court appearance on June 5.
This incident serves as a powerful reminder that speaking up when warning signs appear can save lives. Authorities credit a family member’s quick actions with helping prevent what could have been a devastating tragedy.
