Lewers & Associates, we started modestly by publishing a single, proof-of-concept title, Shells & Beach Life of Sanibel & Captiva Islands in a multi-paneled, laminated, waterproof format called a FoldingGuide™. The company’s founder, Steven Lewers, became intereste
d in the use of laminated guides for nature identification while working at Boston-based book publisher, Houghton Mifflin, where he served as Director of the Peterson Field Guide Series™. Since then, Earth Sky + Water has gone on to create more than 100 regional FoldingGuide™ titles for shell, bird, fish, tree, butterfly, mammal, whale watch, and night sky enthusiasts, as well as a line of museum-quality posters, greeting cards, and boxed notes. Located in an old mill building in Wilton, New Hampshire, with a new branch sales office in Bellingham, Washington, ESW now publishes the work of more than 30 naturalists and illustrators, employs a talented staff of 8, and offers over 750+ unique products, all of them designed, manufactured, and assembled locally in New England.
