Terry, Montana. One of our favorite places. Home of the Terry Badlands, photographer Evelyn Cameron, and the Calypso Trail!

Authentic and historic. Terry, Montana is the heartbeat of the Terry Badlands. At first blush, it may be easy to dismiss, but we found that is not the case....

Nestled under the hills among the Little Missouri River, Medora is open year round. This weeks warm weather is a good reason to quiet your life for a couple days before winter hits us with all its fury.

Check out one of our latest adventures. Still a bit muddy and slippery with creeks full, flowing, still somewhat iced over. All part of the first hike of spring in the North Dakota badlands! www.BeautifulBadlandsND.com

Spring! The Little Missouri River is flowing fast and high. Green grass is just beginning to pop up. A Bluebird. A Robin. And mud drying just enough to get out for a good hike! The North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park is alive!

This cool little eatery and bar in Arnegard just might surprise you, and be the best kept secret in western North Dakota!

Don't let sub zero temps keep you inside! Layer up, and go exploring! Our drive towards the Missouri River was refreshingly picturesque, white snow contrasting with browns and tans of grasses swaying from a slight breeze, brown trees and shrubbery showing their exquisite structure with no leaves to hide behind. We were the first, aside from mice, rabbits, pheasant, bald eagles, deer, geese, beaver, muskrats, and who knows what else, to crunch on the pure white snowy path between ponds surrounded by reeds. No wind in the low lying area made our hike a special sensory experience. Listen!

As the New Year is about to begin, it's not unusual for temperatures to plummet in North Dakota. And so 2017 goes out with weather warnings due to sub zero t...

After a long hike, deep in the heart of the badlands of North Dakota, we stumbled upon the remnants of an old ranch, abandoned yet still alive! What a colorful surprise!

We hiked what appeared to be an old road, long ago abandoned, then worked our way to the top of the adjacent hill. We knew the Little Missouri River would provide an extensive vista from that point, but we had no idea we'd also behold this quaint, lonely sight. What stories are silent here?
