He experienced a stroke on November 4th and subsequently received both hospice and rehabilitation care but he joined those who have gone before on December 15th, peacefully and surrounded by those that he loved deeply. A commission mandated by Congress recently spent a year traveling to military installations, meeting with interested groups, and sifting through thousands of suggestions to rename posts, ships, buildings, streets, and anything else the Defense Department has named in honor of the Confederacy. In March 2023, the commission recommend the renaming of nine Army posts: Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Rucker, Alabama; Fort Polk, Louisiana; Fort Benning and Fort Gordon in Georgia; and Fort A.P....

A Congressionally-appointed commission has recommended renaming nine forts named after Confederate officers.

Americans don't seem particularly interested in history. Non-Fiction listed in the New York Times best-seller list consistently suggests this, usually focusing on novels and "beach reading." The Apache are fighting a giant copper mine that would consume more than 250 billion gallons of water in an area that is suffering from exceptional drought conditions. Wildlife, lands, and Indigenous sites of Oak Flat are threatened by this mining operation, which would create a crater 1,000 feet deep and 1.8 miles wide which would also create 1.4 billion tons of toxic mine tailings covering nearly 4,000 acres.

In other words, another environmental disaster for another copper mine.

We demand Congress use their powers to intervene and stop the destruction of Oak Flat. Add your name.

We can participate in heaven by living in harmony and respect with all of creation or in hell by bringing greed, selfishness, and disease upon the whole earth.…

We are endowed by the Creator with power to live our lives for the well-being of all. Heaven and hell are about living (or not) in right relationship with all of creation, of honoring or dishonoring all, and knowing the love of God by sharing it with all of our relatives: human, plants, trees, four-legged, winged, water, and earth all woven together.
