Rescue teams across Winnebago County gathered Dec. 6 at Hexco Motorsports in Oshkosh for the 2nd annual high school ice fishing safety training presentation. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Winneconne Police Department
are among the law enforcement agencies participating in the Police Lights of
Christmas program to support those in need this winter throughout Wisconsin.
The sheriff’s office said over $300,000 in donations was raised this year to cover gift cards, which are placed in squad cars for officers to use to help low income, hurting or homeless community members. Winneconne Police Chief Ben Sauriol met with Santa during an event for the program Dec. 2 at The Barn in Pulaski.

SIGNING DAY! A pair of Winneconne seniors signed their National Letters of Intent to play college football next year during a ceremony at the high school last week. Hudson Samolinski (left) will continue his career at Illinois State University where he will be a defensive lineman for the Redbirds. Brody Schaffer will attend the University of Iowa next season where he is projected to play wide receiver for the Hawkeyes.

The Village of Winneconne board approved the 2026 budget with a 3.06% total
increase amounting to a $0.08 property tax rate increase per $1,000 of assessed
value. “Everything that we do has got to be with the intent to meet some sort of objective or initiative that this board has, which is reflective of the constituents wants and needs,” Village Administrator Logan Fuller said during the public hearing on Dec. 4.
