On June 5, 2026, District Chief Harrell observed smoke and arrived on scene at the Golconda RV Park at 1:37 p.m. A 911 call was placed, and DC Harrell began evacuations immediately.
At 1:41 p.m., crews were paged for a multi-unit mobile home/RV fire. Four fire districts responded. Golconda Fire was first on scene, with support from Winnemucca Rural Fire, Valmy Fire, and City of Winnemucca Fire. BLM was on standby for additional support.
The fire was contained to one row of RVs.
There were no injuries or fatalities.
The County Emergency Manager and HGH EMS were also on scene to assist residents. Extra resources were released at 3:20 p.m. The scene was cleared at 4:45 p.m., traffic was reopened, and residents were allowed to return.
Power was impacted for the entire mobile home park. Four mobile homes were a total loss, and five others sustained damage. Seven residents were referred to the American Red Cross for assistance.
The Original Golconda Waterhole provided a gathering place for displaced residents and continues to provide support as needed. The American Red Cross is setting up a brief assistance center at The Waterhole for impacted residents.

Thank you to all responding agencies, the County Emergency Manager, the Golconda Fire Protection District Board, and Schoolhouse Caretaker Brian Ford for opening the Golconda Schoolhouse that day and yesterday for anyone who needed relief from the heat, electricity, or Wi-Fi.
