C&R Press

C&R Press Conscious and Responsible | We Love Books | Long Live Books We love books. Today, C&R Press is taking that classic communication and pushing into new media.

Literature matters in today’s world because it lets us explore and share the best of what we think, and who we can be. Good fiction, nonfiction and poetry grow understanding and imagination, take us into new lives and show us truths we never knew. For thousands of years, the written word and storytelling has been mankind's primary form of multigenerational communication. So we’re looking for talen

ted authors and poets – both new and established – whose work we help refine, support, publish and promote. And, through their works, we’re looking to grow the reading public’s love of reading, writing, crafting and dreaming. Let other people say that books are dead, that their time is past. Since 2006 we’ve been helping writers and readers prove that idea wrong – and we’re just getting started. Long live books.

This week has been busy with announcements! Available now for presale: C&R's Winter Soup Bowl 2023 Selection, "Dinner at Las Heras" by Luciana Jazmín Coronado.
https://www.crpress.org/shop/dinner-at-las-heras/

You can preorder this lovely chapbook from the C&R website.

More about the book:
A bittersweet lovesong to a broken world, a geographical and psychological cartography spanning cityscapes and tangled internal terrain, Coronado creates a tapestry from Las Heras that is dystopian yet optimistic, where children raise themselves and sprout from the rubble of adult disillusionment. Here, the dead are never dead, gardens speak, and ravenous flowers wait under the dinner table.

Congrats to Curtis L. Crisler whose poetry collection "Doing Drive-bys on How to Love in the Midwest" (which won the 2022 C&R Poetry Prize) came in second place to another C&R Author George Kalamaras (w/ a book out from a different press). And, as mentioned a few weeks ago, Brian Leung was named to the shortlist for Fiction!

All in all, reviewing the winners and shortlistees, these are some fantastic writers to be associated with. We proudly congratulate our authors for their killer work!

Out Now! Our 2023 Summer Tide Pool Prize selection: "The Consolation of Geometry" by Alice Campbell Romano.

This story-in-poems reads like a movie, and exposes the bitter compromises a couple will make with abuse and love. Lyrical & accomplished poems examine and ultimately reveal “why we stay” as the poet recovers herself and her love through the language of healing.

“Virginia Woolf writes, “If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.” Alice Campbell Romano’s speaker tells the truth, hard truths, about herself and about everyone in her orbit.

Fiction We are looking for great short stories and amazing novels, by both new and established writers, to publish as C&R Fiction. Our award winning fiction titles feature a range of voices and approaches that push boundaries alongside strong writing.

Coming soon! We're excited that our 2023 Non-fiction Prize selection from Dale Corvino, "Afterlife of a Kept Boy" is available for pre-order. This voicey memoir plunges into themes of personal agency and longing, reckoning with legacy (both aesthetic and traumatic), generational identity, taboos, and much more.

Corvino casts a q***r lens on the Gen X condition as analog children thrust into a digital context. We hope you'll pick up a copy from the C&R website or anywhere else you like!
