🔥 This is my "If You’re New Here" confession. 🔥

My life has been a genuine, unhinged, 18-month ROLLER COASTER, and I am choosing to share the whole messy ride.

I’m the human behind Riot Printz and Gifts, and if you follow me, you know this space is all about VULNERABILITY, ADHD AWARENESS, and Mental Health.

But the purpose? It's turning that messy reality into creative products that bring people genuine joy!

Here's the quick download since April 2024:

• Closed the Doors: Said the toughest goodbye to my incredible three-year-old brick-and-mortar gift shop in Nebraska. Losing that business felt like losing an appendage. 💔

• Massive Leap: Packed up everything and moved across the country to Florida. No looking back—just forward, with a lot of tears and moving boxes.

• The Sacrifice: This is tough to share, but the reality of losing my job recently means we won't be able to go home to Nebraska for the holidays this year. It's a huge financial and emotional blow, but it fuels my need to make this business thrive.

• New Life, New Chaos: I’m now fiercely focused on relaunching my business while simultaneously homeschooling my kids. (Send caffeine and good juju)

• Finding My Tribe: My new, wonderful, intense Florida family is my Roller Derby Team! They saved my sanity. (Ask me about the bruises sometime.)

My brain is a beautiful mess. My life is a beautiful mess. And my brand is built on being transparent about both—because the world needs more real talk and more JOY.

Everything happens for a reason……

Sometimes the reason is that you entered a hyper fixated state and couldn’t get yourself out of it.

So here we are with some mutant hybrid pixie/mohawk/mullet situation.

I am definitely in a state of shock/regret and it’s probably going to take a couple weeks to snap out of it.

I know I’m still beautiful.

I know it’s just hair.

I know it’ll grow back.

Im still frustrated and a bit emotional about it and it’ll be okay 🤷🏼‍♀️

💜 The Interview That Caused a Hair-Do Disaster ✂️

Y’all, I need an intervention (and maybe a hat). Seriously, please tell me I’m not the only one this happens to. 🤦‍♀️

I was on cloud nine because the dashboard for this job I applied to finally updated. The status bar moved past “Applied” and was parked right on “Interviewing.” I figured the call to schedule was coming any minute! Cue immediate, frantic preparation mode.
My thoughts went straight to my hair: I have a ton of experience pulling the purple out and giving myself a trim, so I figured I’d get a quick head start.

But then... The ADHD hyperfocus monster attacked.

I looked in the mirror and decided that not only was I perfectly capable of evening out my asymmetrical bob, but I could also give myself a pro-level pixie mullet. Yes, you read that right. A PIXIE MULLET. At home. With regular scissors.

I was horribly, horribly mistaken. 😭

And PLOT TWIST….They did not move forward with interviewing me ☠️

Now, I have an emergency appointment tomorrow to get this mess fixed. I’m already getting an incredible price on the repair, which is a blessing, but this is where I need your help!

My Question to the Masses (I know this is controversial!):

What is customary to tip your stylist for a fix like this? I almost exclusively do my own hair, so I’m totally out of my depth.

Update: I’m not putting a hold on my business at all! I am still making a comeback, but a full time job will ensure that I can make it a STRONG comeback!

It’s certainly giving “My father will be hearing about this!” vibes… IYKYK 🧙 🐍 😂😂😂😂

Now, with that out of the way….The reason I’m looking a litter slytherin right now is because I will be having a job interview soon!! I applied today and made it through screening! It is a decent paying job and while I love all of the extra time I am getting to spend with my kiddos, it’s time to start bringing in some money that will help us create the life we want for ourselves and our kids’ futures!

🔬 My Hair Journey Is Your Life Lesson 🤣

Buckle up, folks. I'm calling out all my fellow over-thinkers and perfectionists because this one is for you. 👇

For months, I’ve been trying to unlock my hair's natural potential. I know there are waves and curls in there! I've been researching products, watching 100 YouTube tutorials on scrunching, and basically treating my bathroom like a mad scientist's lab. All in pursuit of that perfect, bouncy curl.

The other day, after hours of work (and probably too much diffusing), I looked in the mirror and realized I had failed my mission spectacularly. The diffuser is currently in timeout. 😩

I gave up, grabbed the straightener, and created a simple, wavy look instead. And you know what? It looked great. My husband and kids even complimented me on it! It was an entirely different outcome than my goal, but I loved it, and it's totally repeatable.

Here is the point: We often set specific goals—in work, fitness, or relationships—and we research, experiment, and work incredibly hard. When we don't hit the target, it feels like a total failure. But the truth is, the process of trying didn't end in failure; it ended in a different, beloved, and perfectly valid result. You worked hard, and you succeeded in something you didn't plan for.

Controversial question alert!!!!

Here it is…..the age old question….

When do you find it appropriate to start decorating for Christmas?!

For us, I feel it depends on the year. Some years it’s a hard, day after thanksgiving. Some years it’s November 1st. We’ve even had the Christmas tree up in October with a sheet over it for a “ghost” tree.

How does your family do it?!

It’s been a really tough few days so I took a little time off to hang out, play some video games and snuggle some puppies!!

STORY TIME. 🐾

Between perimenopause insomnia, a “neuro-spicy” brain that won’t shut off, and a puppy with an upset tummy who was waking up every 1.5-2 hours... I got very little sleep last night. By the time my husband left around 5am, I was exhausted and I was MAD.

Not at him, but I was BIG mad at the situation. So, when he came to give me his usual goodbye kisses (three to be exact), I gave him the absolute least amount of effort. A haphazard smooch and a passive-aggressive “love you.”

He left the room, and I immediately started crying.

I realized in about 30 seconds: What if something happens today and that passive-aggressive mumble is the last memory he has of me?

I dragged my exhausted self out of bed, wrapped in a blanket like the crying, cramping bog witch that I am, and marched into the kitchen. I grabbed his face, kissed him for real, and told him, “I’m mad, but I couldn’t bear the thought of that being the last kiss you ever received from me. I love you.”

It is so hard to navigate emotions when you’re running on fumes, but I never want my anger or exhaustion to be the last thing he sees.

He went to work knowing he is loved, and I went back to bed knowing I fixed it.
