Eight Waves is merging with Bears Who Care to continue to provide bears and a new book to children in Title I schools and in hospitals. This will carry on the legacy of Kari Kron Schmitz, the founder of Bears Who Care who passed away in 2024.

The books and bears program will continue under Eight Waves, continuing the legacy of Bears Who Care founder.

Local youth flag football team, NxtGen, brings home the silver medal from the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics' inaugural flag football competition, falling inches short of bringing home the gold.

After scoring a touchdown as time expired to make it a 7-6 game, the Windermere-based youth flag football team went for two-point conversion but came up just inches short.
