Heavy rain from thunderstorms has already dropped up to 4 inches across northeastern Sumter County, triggering a Flood Advisory for communities including Wildwood, Lake Panasoffkee, Coleman, Oxford, and Sumterville. Water is moving over roadways and pooling in low-lying areas with poor drainage. Another half inch to 2 inches of rain is still expected, so expect conditions in those areas to remain difficult.

A strong thunderstorm nearly stalled over Wildwood is producing wind gusts up to 50 mph, and that slow movement means the threat is lingering over the same communities for an extended period. Inverness, Lake Panasoffkee, Coleman, Floral City, and Oxford are among the areas in the path of this storm. Those gusty winds are strong enough to bring down tree limbs across inland Citrus and Sumter Counties.
