If you're going to be in town for the National Hot Rod Reunion, do not miss the opportunity to catch this daredevil drag racing documentary. And best of all, admission is 100% free! Starting right after qualifying at Beech Bend Raceway Park, this 90 minute film showcases the life of now 100 year old Captain Jack W McClure. Jack is likely best known for driving his hydrogen peroxide rocket go-kart way back in the 1970s, but that's only part of the story. Over fifty years later, Jack reintroduces himself to racing fans well into his 90's by taking off down dragstrips in that very same go-kart. Have you ever seen a 90+ year old man turn 150mph in the 1/8th mile? Well, here is your chance!
To tell this phenomenal life story, we got the absolute best NHRA's very own Brian Lohnes narrates this fast paced feature biopic. And boy, does he do the story justice!
From historical racing reminiscing by the legendary drag racer "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, to Nascar's roots in bootleg liquor, to rocketry insights from rocketeer Ky Michaelson, this documentary gives an unique view into a full life lived in the fast lane.
Big thanks to Hilary Kinney, Sheila Seashells, Janet Henderson, Broc Porter at Beech Bend Raceway Park, and the staff at Warren County Public Library for helping bring the film to Bowling Green!
