Times Forgotten – Songs Of Awakening
Prog rock from Costa Rica? Who would have thunk it? Prior to this album I was completely unfamiliar with this band, but apparently they have been around for 20 years in one form or another. This is hard rocking prog rock that gets heavy at times, but I am not sure that I would call it metal. The band are great musicians that can both rock and play melodically. The band’s secret weapon is vocalist Pricilla Ruiz who has a set of pipes that can cover an amazing amount of musical ground. Her voice is both powerful and emotive, but she can also sing subtle quiet passages with equal capacity. I know nothing more about these guys, but I will definitely be exploring their earlier releases. Here is the video for the single from the album that might give you an idea of what they are all about. If you like heavy prog with soaring female vocals this might be for you.
