Earlier this month, on May 16 and 17, The Nova Sports Media Team was on-site at DMV Live, broadcasting live from the .
A real thank you to , Director of Content at MADE Hoops, who made the connection and trusted us with the opportunity. None of this happens without his belief in what we are building. Equal thanks to the MADE Hoops team for investing in professional broadcast coverage of their event. That kind of partnership is rarer in grassroots basketball than it should be.
We share MADE Hoops’ mission. Our broadcast exists so the families who could not travel, the college coaches who could not be everywhere, and the scouts watching from home can still get a clear, professional look at the players putting in the work.
The scale of DMV Live was something to witness: 4,312 athletes, 485 teams, 41 courts running simultaneously, and 127 college coaches in the building. NSMT covered 10 games over the weekend, including a Saturday marathon that started at 9:30 AM and did not wrap until after 9 PM.
The score bug you saw on screen is not off-the-shelf. We built our own because we were tired of the templated graphics that come with most streaming devices. Ours is controlled from a single iPad that we can run from anywhere in the gym, which matters at AAU events where space at the scorer’s table is tight or nonexistent.
Our weekend kit: FX3 cameras with Sony 24 to 70 lenses, CFexpress Type A cards, SSD Pro drives, a Ace 750 wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver set, a YoloBox Extreme, a RODECaster Pro, BPHS1 headsets, .na Solidcom SE intercom, a .inet travel router, a MacBook Pro, an power station, and a stack of .us V-mount batteries.
We cannot wait to be back in Baltimore for MADE Hoops’ championship weekend in July. When we are, we have some special additions planned for the broadcast. Stay tuned.
The Nova Sports Media Team. Maximizing athlete development and exposure.
