Today is International DDX3X Day, and we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge it and celebrate Cate, the namesake behind our favorite pterodactyl.

Cate is part of the heart behind our little dinosaur world, and days like today are a reminder of why representation matters. Every diagnosis, every story, and every child deserves to be seen, celebrated, and included.

So today, we’re sending a little extra love to Cate and the entire DDX3X community.

The next inclusive playground in our spotlight series is the Dr. Ronald McFarland Inclusive Playground at:

📍 Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park

Memorial Park is a 98+ acre, multi-use recreation facility located in Monticello, Kentucky, and is home to a little bit of everything, including softball, baseball, horse shows, tennis, soccer, pickleball, horseshoes, disc golf, and more.

The Miracle Recreation playground area is wheelchair accessible and fully fenced in with a gate. It has poured rubber surfacing throughout, with the exception of three concrete corners that accommodate seating areas. Restroom access is available just down from the playground and can be reached by sidewalk.

Additional highlights include:

• Partial ramped play access
• Inclusive swings with 3-point harnesses x2
• Generational swings x2
• Wheelchair-accessible Alta Glide Inclusive Glider
• Ten Spin
• Sensory activity boards and bongos
• Shaded portions over play structures
• Accessible parking available

It is clear that when this inclusive playground was added to the area, real thought and consideration went into creating something for all children.

There is another playground just outside of this one, but it sits on a bed of wood chips, making it difficult for many children to access and traverse. This inclusive playground offers features for children of all abilities. While the entire play structure is not ramped, the steps that are there are wide and deep, which gives children with certain mobility limitations the opportunity to still climb to the top.

The generational swings, sensory elements, and included seating areas also highlight that not only were the kids considered, but the adults and those accompanying them were considered as well.

Being located within Memorial Park, and not isolated off by itself, also makes the inclusion feel bigger than just the playground. Kids who visit this playground are right there with all the other activities the park has to offer.

As a bonus highlight, Memorial Park is also home to the Readers to Leaders Story Book Trail. It is an accessible, paved trail that goes around the park and includes 18 page stands to stop and read along the way.

And as always, as we continue highlighting playgrounds over the coming weeks and months, one thing we want to emphasize is this:

Please always be respectful if you choose to visit any of these locations.

Some playgrounds will be attached to schools, while others may be part of sports complexes, parks, or community spaces. Regardless of location, these places exist because communities invested in making them welcoming and accessible for everyone.

Let’s respect that effort, respect the spaces, and help ensure these places stay available for families who need them.

Work in Progress 📝

When I say our Dinoclusive Dinos are hand drawn I mean it!

Michael is currently redesigning Penny and I love coming across sketches around our home. He hates praise but I can’t help shouting his amazingness! This project, these dinos, are a love letter to our Greeney. A way to say he matters, that every kid matters and deserves to be represented!

Thank you to everyone that has helped spread the word about our beloved dinos and thank you Michael for everything you do! đź’™

People have been asking, and now we can finally share it:

Our 2026 AMC Awareness shirts are live on the shop.

Today marks the beginning of AMC Awareness Month, so it felt like the right day to launch this year’s design.

Just like last year’s “Unstoppable” shirt, this one is inspired by Harrison. And if you’ve been following along, you know “Every Step Earned” has pretty much been the mantra of the past year.

The design features that phrase, along with Greeney, our resident T-Rex, in his new friendlier style, carrying the flag again. But one of my favorite little details is that Greeney is now using an EaZyHold to help hold onto the flag pole, an assistive tool Harrison uses both at home and at school.

Last year, we were able to donate over $400 toward the inclusive playground at Mt. Vernon Elementary, and we’re running it back again this year.

Just like before, everything is priced as affordably as we can make it, and the proceeds from this AMC Awareness line will be donated back to the school.

This isn’t just about shirts. It’s about helping build the kind of playground, school, and community where Harrison and so many others can be included from the start.

Wear it. Share it.
And together, we can make a difference.

So, for the first inclusive playground spotlight in this new series, it only felt right to highlight the very first inclusive playground we ever took Harrison to.

📍 Berea Community Elementary School

This playground is open to the public and is part of a larger playground area connected to the school. You can check out the photos throughout the carousel.

The overall playground area is fenced in, though I didn’t specifically mark this one as “fenced” in because the fenced area extends well beyond just the inclusive section itself.

The Kendyl & Friends Playground includes a poured rubber surface, which makes a huge difference for accessibility and mobility, and helps the area stand out from the rest of the playground area.

Additional highlights:
• Open to the public (when school isn't in session)
• Partial ramp access to elevated surfaces and slides
• Inclusive swing with harness
• In-ground wheelchair-accessible Surface Spinner
• Braille and sensory activity boards
• Shaded portions over play structures
• Parking available

One thing I especially appreciate here is that accessibility wasn’t treated like an afterthought. No, the ramps do not go all the way to the top of the structure, but there are still elevated play areas accessible by ramp, along with sensory-focused elements.

This place will always mean something special to us simply because it was Harrison’s first experience at a playground where accessibility and inclusion were intentionally considered.

As we continue highlighting playgrounds over the coming weeks and months, one thing we want to emphasize is this:
Please always be respectful if you choose to visit any of these locations.

Some playgrounds will be attached to schools like this one, while others may be part of sports complexes, parks, or community spaces. Regardless of location, these places exist because communities invested in making them welcoming and accessible for everyone.

It’s the end of Teacher Appreciation Week, so it feels fitting to officially introduce these three characters, especially since they come from such a deep place of appreciation.

When I first started creating the Dinoclusive Friends last year, several people told me I should do a children’s book. For the better part of a year, I mostly brushed that off.

I make no promises about where any of this eventually goes, but if I were ever going to build this little dinosaur world into something bigger, I knew it could not just be about the kids.

It needed teachers.
It needed helpers.
It needed the supportive adults who show up every day, do the work, love these kids, push them, protect them, and help them grow.

So I’m proud to introduce Ms. Kara, Ms. Kelsey, and Ms. Brooke.

These three have been such an important part of Harrison’s life for the last two years. As meaningful as Harrison’s friends have been to him, and to this whole project, these ladies have been right there in the middle of it all.

Ms. Kara was always going to be a brontosaurus, but she could not just be a larger version of Daisy. Her energy, glasses, and lanyard all had to be part of her.

Ms. Brooke, with her quiet, sweet, and steady presence, just clicked as an iguanodon. Friendly, approachable, and trustworthy.

And Ms. Kelsey had to have a bit more bite to her. She is sweet, loving, and supportive, but cross one of her kids the wrong way, and I’m pretty sure the claws would come out. So an allosaurus made perfect sense.

The Dinoclusive Friends started as a way to celebrate kids, inclusion, accessibility, communication, support, and the different ways children find their place in the world.

But kids do not grow in a vacuum.

They grow because people show up for them.

And these three have shown up.

So as Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, we just want to say thank you.

Thank you, Ms. Kara, Ms. Kelsey, and Ms. Brooke.

For loving our boy.
For helping him grow.
For being part of his story.

And now, for being part of this one, too. đź’š

"...all three of them, have been part of building something in Harrison that I never knew how to hope for."

Harrison’s preschool chapter has ended, and with it comes gratitude for the three women who helped him feel safe, seen, understood, and loved.
