Meet Jenna Meier! Jenna is a senior on M/W and she has a passion for art. Let’s get to know her!

1. What is your favorite part of art?
Probably seeing my improvement over time with my art style. Comparing my current art pieces and old pieces is fascinating to me, and really shows how far I've come and what I've yet to learn.

2.How long have you been doing art?
I've always been doing art since I was a little girl, even though they were just your average doodles. I began taking my art much more seriously in high school, especially this past year.

3.What are your plans for the future with art/animation?
I've been juggling back and forth between illustration and animation, but I do want to use those skills to create awesome visuals one day, and maybe even create something of my own!

4. What is an interesting fact about you?
I am left-handed! And this is why I don't particular prefer spiral sketchbooks.

Meet Audrey Floyd!! Audrey is a junior on Tuesday/Friday, here at TKA. Let’s get to know her, shall we?

1. What is your favorite pastime?
Some of my favorite past times are hanging out with my family, painting, and driving.

2.What is your favorite kind of music to sing?
I love singing for my church. I am always looking forward to singing worship on Sundays and Wednesdays. But, a good broadway song to belt out is my second favorite.

3.What is an interesting fact about you?
An interesting fact about me is that I can't whistle at all.

4. If you could go any here in the world, where would you go?
NEW ZEALAND!! I'm not sure why, but ever since I was little I’ve dreamed of going to New Zealand.

Let’s get to know him:

1. What’s something interesting that you do?
I love to play basketball, but the more interesting sport I play is pickle ball.

2. What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I hang out with my best friend/neighbor.

3. What’s a cool fact about you?
I preached a sermon when I was in seventh grade.

4. What is a favorite memory from recently?
I went on a trip called Framily with the Paynes and some other families, and my favorite part was taking night walks on the beach and our friend throwing the dead jellyfish back into the water.

🚨STUDENT SPOTLIGHT🚨
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Madison Beavers! Madison is a skilled equestrian, and loves her life because of it! Let’s see what she has to say.

1. What do you do as an equestrian?
I am a hunter jumper rider. I compete in national level hunter, jumpers, and equitation but hunters is my favorite.

2. How long have you been riding?
I have been riding horses for 11 years, I started at 7 years old.

3. What got you started?
I’ve always been fascinated by horses. Every little girl seems to dream of having a pony and that dream became my reality. Once I started riding horses I feel in love with the animals and the sport. I started competing and traveling nationally at 13 and I ride almost everyday.

4. What is your favorite part of riding?
My favorite part about being and equestrian is the connection I get to have with horses. They are incredible animals and truly athletes and on top of that they’re my teammates. Being an equestrian is the art of building trust and a bond with a horse without using words.
5. Will you continue riding in college? If not, what do you plan to do?
I will not be riding for a college team but I will continue to ride for the rest of my life. It’s going to look a little different but it will always be apart of me. I’m planning to go to college to be a pediatric nurse.

🚨STUDENT SPOTLIGHT🚨
Meet Jordan Stewart! Jordan is a Tuesday/Friday freshman, here at the King’s Academy. He’s a huge fan of surfing, so let’s see what he has to say:

1. When did you start surfing?
I’ve been surfing for about 2 years.

2. Since we don’t live near beaches, when/where do you usually surf?
I surf in Virginia Beach every summer.

3. Do you surf competitively, or is it more of a pastime?
I don’t surf competitively, it is more of a pastime with my cousins and dad.

4. What made you start surfing?
I started surfing because my dad, who has been surfing for a while, taught me how.

5. What else do you enjoy doing besides surfing?
I also enjoy skateboarding as a pastime, though not competitively.

ALERT 🚨 NEW STUDENT SPOTLIGHT!
Meet Ainsleigh Thrasher, a M/W Junior here at The King’s Academy! In her free time, she loves doing cosplay and art. Let’s see what she has to say:

1. What is your favorite hobby?
I would say my favorite hobby would be any kind of creative art! This is because getting to experiment in any sort of field of art is entertaining and a fun challenge.

2. When did you start cosplaying?
I cannot remember my initial date when I first started cosplay. That was most likely around 2017, but I do know that I really threw myself into it in late 2019/early 2020!

4. What is your favorite cosplay?
My favorite cosplay tends to change a lot. Usually it is whatever my most recent one is, which in this case is my own original character!

6. When did you start doing art?
I know I started doing art at a very young age and it just stuck, that’s basically the story for that. On the other hand, cosplay really came to me after making my first Halloween costume a few years back! Ever since then it’s been an off and on thing, but once Covid hit, I really threw myself into it!

6.Do you plan to pursue some form of art in the future?
In the future, I do hope to carry on with art in some way! I’m still undecided on which route to take, but I like to keep my options open.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT! Meet Sophie Jones. She’s a sophmore who loves crafting fun things out of unusual materials some may consider trash. Here’s what she has to say:

1.What started you on making earrings?

I started making charms out of clay when I was a kid, and from then on I got hooked on making fun earrings and jewelry!
2. How long have you been making earrings?

I started making earrings a lot around last summer. I wanted to start recycling more things that just go to waste and turn trash into art, so I began making fun earrings out of things I would’ve thrown away!
3.What is your favorite pair?

My favorite pair is probably my earbud earrings. They show my love of music by displaying all the pairs of earbuds I have killed.
4.Why did you begin making these earrings?

The biggest reason I make earrings out of trash is to show that you can turn junk into pretty stuff!
5.Do you plan on pursuing this as a business, or is it just a hobby?

As of right now, it is just a hobby, but in the future I hope to maybe set up an Etsy shop so I can share some trash art with other people!
