The title of this piece, AmericanWar, is presented as one word because it speaks to a malady that is uniquely American in its ability to hide in plain sight. The fabric of this country's history is woven from many textures. To some, the colors may clash, but if there is to *be* a future, the weave must hold.
I am deeply grateful to all the artists who played and sang on this project, including:
• The Sultan a/k/a Gus Mancini on keyboard synth and sax,
• The great Marji Zintz on lead vocals and acoustic guitar,
• The fantastic Julia Nichols on background vocals and refrains,
• The amazing Jim Kunkel on lead guitar,
• My "sister of soul," Alyx Coe on piano,
• The incomparable Dawn Casteel-Lorick on percussion, and
• The "littleGIANT Studio house band, E.C. Lorick, on lead vocals, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, and drum programming.
Most importantly, thanks to the children for their beautiful voices and wisdom and to the demonstrators, who know that the "struggle" continues and are willing to put their bodies and hearts on the line every time.
Please share far and wide. Thank you.
