Congress Township was first settled in 1815. One of original settlers, Michael Totten, held school in his log cabin until a log school house was built in 1819.
This image of the Congress Township School is several generations removed from the original log school house. The image can be found in Picturesque Wayne on page 262. This book has been digitized and is currently available on our website: https://wiki.wcpl.info/w/Picturesque_Wayne
