What we all need to hold onto right now. — love when these little messages pop up in place. This morning was an overwhelming amount of media and messaging about how much harm is being caused by folks in our federal government to so many of us. I needed this tiny sign that we can continue the fight, hold onto hope, and tap into joy. You can also be that message — tell someone you love that’s it’s going to be okay.

📢 Affirmation Saves Lives. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Q***r and trans students deserve more than just tolerance—they deserve schools that affirm, support, and fight for them. That’s why I strongly support the LGBTQ+ Safe Schools Resolution.

🌟 According to :
✅ Students who feel their school is affirming have lower rates of attempted su***de compared to those who don’t.
✅ Trans and nonbinary students with access to gender-neutral bathrooms have lower rates of su***de attempts than those without.

Right now, q***r and trans folks—our youth, our friends, our community—are scared. But it’s our responsibility to show them they belong, not just in our schools, but in our city—and absolutely yes, in this country.

Thank you School Committee Member for championing this resolution and Superintendent Monárrez for your leadership. We need real action, real policy, and real commitment to make Worcester a place where every student can show up as their full self—without fear.

Let’s make it happen. 🩷🩵🤍

In light of ’s brave letter to the community, and the poor response from many of our elected officials and city leadership, I wrote this article, “Why accountability matters: Workplace discrimination is everyone’s business” that talks about the impact of discrimination, how to create more accountable systems, and recommends how we as community members could be advocating for tangible actions the should take to ensure they practice their values of equity and inclusion.

Reading “Planning & Communities” and finding inspiration as I’ve been planning for ***rForCities (I promise more episodes are coming soon)! I’ve been thinking a lot about the q***r imagining of physical spaces - our third spaces, neighborhoods, cities, and communities - and the tactics that can help us as q***r folk not only create these spaces but also talk about ownership of the land and properties we’re developing in the communities we’re building. There is so much to say. So much that is being felt and navigated right now. I wanted to, in what is a dark time, reach in to say that we can handle what is ahead. There is light. We are light. We are power. We must lean in and rely on each other. We must build more resilient and loving communities, together. I will share more, but for now, I am taking care of my needs and working to support those around me. And I will make art.
