🎬 Days 4 and 5 are a wrap in Oakland, NJ!

We filmed right into Friday morning to capture the final shots of The Langar Files and then the race to the finish began. Editing the film, designing the poster and logo, putting everything together, and finally watching it come alive on the big screen with the Sangat.

Five days. One story. A lot of very late nights. And a film these young storytellers can truly call their own.

What a way to close an incredible summer of storytelling! ❤️🎥

Filming from almost 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM and somehow, the energy never disappeared!

There’s something powerful about giving young people ownership of a story. They’re not just learning filmmaking. They wrote it, acted in it, filmed it, and are bringing their own story to life.

🎬 Day 2 is a wrap in Oakland, NJ!

Today, our young filmmakers turned yesterday’s ideas into a three-act screenplay, challenged the story to make it believable, entertaining and meaningful, and then moved into casting, crew roles, costumes and props.

A huge thank you to our parents who jumped in to help with some very specific last-minute costume needs! 🙏

🎬 Day 1 is a wrap in Oakland, NJ!

17 young storytellers kicked off our Sikh Visual Storytelling Workshop with cameras, creativity, brainstorming, and lots of ideas.

From learning the different roles behind a film to beginning the journey of turning an idea into a story, the creative process is officially underway.

🎬 ONE LAST STORY BEFORE SUMMER ENDS.

After a summer of traveling, teaching, creating, and watching young storytellers bring their ideas to the screen, we’re heading to Oakland, New Jersey for our final Sikh Visual Storytelling Workshop of Summer 2026!

For one intense week, students ages 8–18 won’t just learn filmmaking. They’ll write, act, shoot, direct, and edit their own short film—while exploring how Sikh stories and values can be told through the media of their generation.

Every workshop begins with a blank page.

By Friday, there’s a film on the screen. 🎥

Created in just 5 days by 16 Sikh youth (ages 6–13) during our Sikh Visual Storytelling Workshop in Medford, MA, this short film explores one of the most misunderstood articles of the Sikh faith through the eyes of a young girl who has just taken Amrit.

This is more than a film—it’s an opportunity to start conversations, challenge misconceptions, and help others understand the Kirpan as a symbol of faith, discipline, and responsibility.
