Lawmakers have voted to eliminate the STAAR test, replacing it with a new system designed to ease pressure on students, give parents and teachers faster results, and restore classroom time. The shift — the biggest in decades — takes effect in the 2027–28 school year.

📊A split vote marked Monday night’s council meeting as members approved the $179.9 million Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget and maintained the city’s property tax rate. Supporters said the plan keeps Princeton moving forward, while critics argued it fails to meet critical needs like additional police staffing.

Princeton lit up Williams Stadium last Thursday night, scoring 28 points in the second quarter to take control and cruise to a 49-31 win over Naaman Forest. The Panthers improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2021.
