Diving the Banda Sea is like nowhere I have dove before. Nothing but a vast expanse of inky blue water separating it's many islands. Every morning we awoke anchored at a new island and diving each one was totally different in every way, from topography to coral growth to sea life. This one volcanic island in particular was beyond special. We pulled around the corner of it to witness a huge dried up lava flow going all the way down the side of the island and when we dove in there was the most massive lettuce coral fields going on as far as the eye could see. I have never seen anything like it and the resulting image is unlike any other I have ever shot. Definitely one of my favorite pictures I made on this adventure!
