Wow, what a turnout! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Summer Shop Party. From laughs to gear talk and great food, this was fun! What started as an event to connect quickly grew into something bigger. This is what community is all about, and we couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it.�

Big shoutout to the teams at Braincell Camera and Lowing Light & Grip, and to all those who lent a helping hand to make it all happen. Days like this remind us how strong this community really is - and makes us all the more excited for our next Summer Shop Party!

Matt and Dave hit the road to Charlevoix, MI for an Antique Roadshow shoot! Great town, great crew, and a G&E team that made the whole thing a blast. Shoots like this are a good reminder that Michigan has the crew, the gear, and the know-how to support productions of any scale.

We’re saddened to share the news that our former colleague and friend, Stephen M. Paulsen, passed away this past Saturday morning, surrounded by loved ones.

Steve was a core part of Lowing Light & Grip for over 14 years, helping shape the company through seasons of growth and change. He was a sharp thinker, a brilliant wordsmith, and someone who never shied away from hard conversations when they mattered. His presence was unmistakable, and his influence is woven into the fabric of this company.

We’re grateful for the time we had with Steve and the many ways he challenged, inspired, and strengthened the team around him. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who knew and cared for him.

We were thrilled to welcome State Representative John Fitzgerald to the shop where he presented us with the Small Business of the Month award for House District 83.

We’re honored — not just by the recognition, but by what it reflects: a community that continues to grow, collaborate, and create together.

Lowing Light & Grip began in 1985 with one light kit, a van, and a commitment to helping crews do great work. Nearly 40 years later, that mission hasn’t changed — we’re just lucky enough to do it with a bigger team, more gear, and a creative community that continues to inspire us.

Last Thursday, our very own Dave Lowing was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Advertising Federation of West Michigan (AAF West Michigan). This well-deserved recognition celebrates Dave’s decades of dedication to the West Michigan creative and media production community.

From mentoring countless professionals to shaping the industry with his expertise and generosity, Dave’s impact can be felt far and wide. Seeing him receive this award at the Addys was incredible—and celebrating with friends and colleagues beforehand made it even more special.

Congratulations, Dave! We’re beyond grateful for all you’ve done—and continue to do—for this community. A heartfelt thank you to the West Michigan creative community for inviting Dave and Lowing Light & Grip to assist with so many incredible projects over the years. It’s been an honor to be part of this creative journey and Dave, Matt, and the rest of the Lowing team can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
