Trip Report - Baltimore (BAL) to Boston South Station (BOS) 2-7/8-26
We started our freezing journey in Baltimore, departing on Northeast Regional 160 at 6:06AM (on time). We soon noticed snow blowing into the vestibules on the amfleet causing minimum delays at certain stations up north due to the trap doors needing to be opened. After leaving New York at 9:17AM (17 minutes late) we entered a section where Amtrak was single tracking due to track work. We made up time getting into New Haven at 10:59AM (6 minutes late). We continued north being around 10 minutes late. This put us into Boston South Station at 1:49PM (14 minutes late). After arriving we took the MBTA Subway to our hotel along the orange line. We checked in then began to ride MBTA around Boston getting photos and video. The hotel we stayed in was very nice, with a courtyard, Starbucks and a restaurant all on the ground level.
Sunday morning, we made our way to Boston South Station our trip home. We boarded Northeast Regional 99 with a 8:40AM departure. On the way south, we lost time due to frozen doors and trap doors at many of the stations. Then we had to wait for an Acela outside of New York due to single tracking. We pulled into New York at 2:00PM (1 hour 4 minutes late). We continued our journey home pulling into Baltimore at 5:12PM (1 hour 18 minutes late). Overall the crews did an amazing job, Dealing with the bitter cold and frozen doors and traps. It was an amazing trip.
