There’s always going to be someone who thinks you travel too much, spend your money on the wrong things, or take too many pictures. Someone else will wonder why you never go anywhere or share anything. You can’t please everyone, and we’re learning to be okay with that.

For us, traveling is something we love doing together. We fell in love in Patagonia, and we’ve kept finding places we’ll talk about long after we get home. Some are famous places we’d wanted to visit for years. Others are stops we barely knew anything about that ended up being our favorite part of the trip

And we love sharing those memories here. The pictures, the videos, the little moments that might mean nothing to someone else but mean so much to us 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷‍♂️

People will have opinions either way. We’d rather make our choices around what makes us happy 🤍

We’re Jocelyn & Ryan. Welcome to Wandering Herd 🌎

From Árbol del Tule in Oaxaca to the redwoods of Northern California and the giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove, we’ve traveled quite a way to stand next to a tree and feel very, very small.

You can see the photos and read the measurements, but standing beside them is something else. Trying to fit the whole trunk into a picture, looking up and still not being able to see the top, none of our photos quite show how big they actually are.

And after visiting them, you want these places to stay this way. For someone else to walk through the same forest, stop beside the same tree, and be just as amazed as you were.

Which one would you travel to see? 🌎

If these forests look familiar, you might remember them with a few more stormtroopers 🌲

Northern California’s redwoods helped bring Endor to life in Return of the Jedi, and walking through Redwood National Park had us thinking about this scene the whole time.

Who would you bring here, a Star Wars fan or someone who just loves a good hike? 👀

We had a route planned, but some of the places we keep talking about weren’t the ones we expected to love most. A tiny winery in Sonoma, a lava tube we walked through with flashlights, the volcanic landscape at Lassen, and a completely different side of Yosemite.

And then there were the redwoods and the coast at sunset. California kept changing on us every few days, and somehow we still left feeling like we’d barely scratched the surface.

Which stop would you add to a California road trip? 🌲
