Sharon Chuter, the visionary founder of Uoma Beauty and fearless advocate for inclusivity, has sadly passed away at just 38.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Chuter was found deceased on August 14 in Los Angeles, with the cause of death still under investigation. She had previously stepped down as Uoma Beauty’s CEO in 2023, citing health concerns and burnout.

In 2019, Chuter launched Uoma Beauty, setting new standards for diversity with 50+ foundation shades and unapologetic campaigns celebrating Black beauty. She went on to establish Pull Up For Change in 2020, pushing corporations to disclose diversity data and commit to measurable action, and later launched Make It Black to raise capital for Black founders and challenge harmful language.
Her legacy lives on in the industry she helped reshape, one that is more inclusive, transparent, and equitable because of her work. 💐
