Had an amazing time at Yonkers Fire House 1 with my son Gavin. The firefighters opened up the ladder truck for him, and he was over the moon! It's inspiring to see their dedication to our community. Huge thanks to the Yonkers Fire Department! 🌟👨‍🚒🔥

I had a wonderful time with my son at Croton Point Park, searching for seaglass along the Hudson River's seashore. Despite the overcast weather, the park ran smoothly and wasn't very crowded. It's a fantastic community park with barbecue areas, hiking trails, and cool water. The peaceful atmosphere and sense of community made our visit special, reminding us of the beauty of nature and simple pleasures.

Hundreds of rubber ducks went head-to-head in the first-ever "Duck Derby" at the Lazy River Pool in Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.

The lighthearted event, hosted by the Westchester County Parks Foundation, was a fundraiser to revitalize Tibbetts Lake.

Local businesses sponsored the ducks, community members bought ducks to "enter" the race, and crowds gathered to watch the wacky race unfold.

"Ready...set...go!"

The ducks were released to an enthusiastic countdown. But pandemonium ensued as some confused ducks swam the wrong way!

"Wow! They're off, and some are going the wrong way. What's going on here?"

Lifeguards corralled errant ducks; laughter filled the air.

Order emerged with gentle guidance. Lesson: Unexpected challenges can lead to fun and valuable learning.

Gradually, the ducks picked up speed, riding the current down the lazy river. The crowd whooped and hollered, cheering on their sponsored ducks. Clear leaders emerged, plunging ahead of the pack.

Would the front runners keep their lead?

Or would a trailing duck stage a comeback victory?

The suspense had everyone glued to the action.

In the spirit of charity, it didn't matter who won - the event succeeded in bringing people together for a good cause.

In a dramatic ending, the ducks crossed the finish line in close succession, with the top three places separated by mere seconds! The crowd erupted into cheers and applause.

I want to give special thanks to Jessica McFarlane-Erbentraut for letting me know about the event, which is less than a mile from my new home in Yonkers.

I hope to see you at the second annual race next summer! In the meantime, I will purchase my Westchester County Parks pass to enjoy Tibbets Brook Park and many other facilities throughout Yonkers and Westchester.
