Packing for a trip using ONLY a carry-on is an art form—especially during the ‘Ber months when you need layers! ✈️🍂

I’m putting my own carry-on strategy to the test this weekend as I pack for my upcoming trip on the Disney Wish! 🛳️✨

When you’re heading somewhere warm but traveling through cooler fall weather, every inch of bag space counts. Here are several of my non-negotiables sitting in my carry-on right now:

1️⃣ My heaviest layer: I save the space in my bag for my other essentials by wearing this or tying it to me or the bag. I’m usually thankful it’s handy on the chilly plane!
2️⃣ Portable Phone Charger: When traveling, I don’t want to be caught anywhere with a dead phone. The travel apps, checking email, taking photos, and flight entertainment all drain the battery quick. (ICYDK - Do not charge your phone with this while on the plane!!)
3️⃣ Personal Alarm: This may not apply to everyone, but this gives me (& my family) peace of mind especially when traveling alone. I use the one in the comments below, but these are perfect to clip to your bag and hope to never need it.

Fall travel hits different if you know how to play the season right! 🍂 Here are 3 non-negotiables I use every September–December:

1️⃣ Mid-week Disney days: Tuesday and Wednesday fall crowds are noticeably lighter than weekends.
2️⃣ Shoulder season beach trips: Caribbean and coastal destinations drop prices post-Labor Day, but the water is still warm!
3️⃣ Layer strategy: Wear your bulkier fall layers/jackets onto the plane so you don’t waste precious carry-on space.
