Triplet Parents Celebrate a Busier but Brighter Christmas as Babies Turn 10 Months Old
Christmas has taken on a whole new meaning for Sandy Bay couple Nyoaka Lindo and Clevone Nicholson. With their triplet daughters — Kamaya, Katalia, and Kahlia — now 10 months old, the season is louder, more hectic, and filled with more joy than ever before.
Born on February 22, the three girls have transformed the family’s daily routine into a round-the-clock operation. Between caring for the triplets and keeping up with their lively four-year-old son, Kaleb, the couple says life is busy — but beautifully so.
The family first made headlines in April, when Lindo shared the realities of raising three newborns at once. At that time, the girls were using around 30 diapers a day and going through a 400g tin of formula daily. Today, the diaper count has dropped to about 10 per day, but feeding costs remain high. A 1600g tin of Nestle Klim One Plus lasts just two days, even when mixed with cereal.
In the months following their feature, help poured in. Companies such as GraceKennedy, Lasco, and Food For The Poor stepped forward with donations of diapers and other essentials — support the parents say made a tremendous difference.
Still, this Christmas has brought its own unique challenges.
“Christmas this year is very different — a lot more running around,” Lindo said. “It’s not extremely hard, but it isn’t easy either. When all three cry at once, I have to stop everything or put them safely in the crib and rush to finish what I’m doing. It’s tough, but you manage.”
One of the season’s brightest moments has been the arrival of Lindo’s mother, who is meeting the triplets for the very first time.
“We’re so happy to have her here,” Lindo shared. “She’s bonding with them — hugging them, bathing them, even when they’re mischievous. It’s wonderful to see.”
Nicholson, who admits he’s running on very little sleep, says the experience of raising triplets has been both overwhelming and rewarding.
“It’s a lot of hard work — a lot of overtime,” he laughed. “I always wanted twins, but I got a bonus… a big bonus! This Christmas, I can’t go anywhere — I have to stay home and help.”
For grandmother Charmaine Hamilton, finally holding her three granddaughters has been emotional. She has followed their growth through photos and videos while living overseas, but seeing them in person has been a long-awaited blessing.
“When I heard it was triplets, I started calling around asking if we ever had triplets in the family,” she said. “This is a first. When the doctors confirmed it, I just said, ‘Lord, You know what You’re doing.’”
Now surrounded by her three newest grandchildren, Hamilton says her heart is full.
“It’s amazing finally holding them. This Christmas is extra special — three new blessings, full of energy. It takes a lot to keep up, but I feel so grateful.”
With the triplets approaching their first birthday, Lindo and Nicholson say the season may be busy, but it’s also the sweetest Christmas they’ve ever known — a celebration built on love, gratitude, and the joy of unexpected blessings.
