Warning Residents of Impersonation Scam
The York County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be deputies from our office. In several reported incidents, scammers have used the names of actual deputies to convince victims that they have outstanding warrants, have missed jury duty or other legal issues that require immediate action and or payment. We as an office we want to let York County residents know that these claims are fraudulent. Residents who may receive such calls are encouraged to hang up and not release any personal information. If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, please contact our office directly at 717-771-9741 or file a report with your local police department. We are happy to assist you.
The York County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting our community and reminds residents to stay vigilant against fraud and impersonation scams.
