Utica University Tangerine The Tangerine is Utica University's student-run newspaper and online news source published by and for Utica students.

We print biweekly during the academic year. The Tangerine has been a part of the Utica University community since the school was founded in 1946. The Tangerine’s weekly editorial content is decided by members of the editorial staff. The adviser may join discussions but does not shape the direction of news coverage. Letters to the editor are welcome from all members of the Utica University communit

"Backyard Hope is here to make sure every child feels supported, seen, and included," said Danielle Padula, founder of the nonprofit organization that recently partnered with the City of Utica Youth Bureau to host a Community Closet Free Shopping Day on Nov. 22.

The event held at the Parkway Recreation Center, welcomed families to pick out clothing, hygiene products, and other essentials at no cost.

“I’m going to miss every student at this institution when I am no longer president, but I will still be present,” said Todd Pfannestiel, who is stepping down as Utica University president on Dec. 31.

In an interview with The Tangerine, Pfannestiel reflected on time at Utica University, first as provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs and then president since 2023. He said he looks forward to supporting his wife in her career, as she did the same for him for many years.

The Tangerine Grove, Utica University’s food pantry, is a vital resource for students. Staff members have noticed a shift in usage and needs since it opened.

In Features: Dr. Marvee Marr, associate professor of Management, will leave Utica University at the end of the academic year. Students say Marr is known her humor, warmth and ability to connect with them on a personal level.

The Utica University's Theatre Department is bringing Green Day's American Idiot to the stage this week. The rock musical explores the themes of identity, relationships, and the struggle of contemporary life.

You can catch the show at Utica University in the Strebel Auditorium from Dec. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available online or at the door for $20 for general admission or $5 for students with ID.

After 26 years, Professor Jeff Miller decided to step away from Utica University's long running Films on Thursday series.

Since 1999, Miller curated films that pushed students to think deeper and harder, from rare international titles to documentaries that covered a long range of topics.

Miller has already began a new chapter by opening the Little Red Bookshop inside the Tramontane Cafe in Utica.

Junior cross country runner Bennett Melita has made a name for himself as one of Utica University’s most dedicated athletes and recently finished first overall in the Empire 8 Championship. Now he and the team are preparing for NCAA Regionals, set to take place on Nov. 15 in Rochester.
