✈️ The Cirque Chronicles: Arrival Day ✈️
We loaded our *under 1200lbs* of gear into the float plane, climbing into a faded but stylish blue leather interior complete with retro headsets. 🎧
Our pilot Warren pointed out swimming moose and huge glaciers as we flew over the Yukon wilderness, glued to the windows in our precarious yellow bucket of bolts and steel, bumping and buzzing through the cloudy sky. 🫎
We landed on Glacier Lake in the smoothest plane landing I’ve ever experienced, and after tossing all our bags onto the beach, Warren left us to the many thousands of mosquitos who immediately descended upon our flesh. 🥴
After stashing food and supplies in bear boxes, we hefted our 70-80 # backpacks and began the hike toward the cirque. We had varying reports of the distance and elevation from past parties, but thanks to COROS this is no longer a mystery for y’all (see flyover). 🤠🗺️
I was extremely stoked to have trained with a heavy backpack as this was an absolute SLOG. But even fending off hundreds of bugs, sweat, heat, and heinous loads, our stoke was unleashed upon arrival. 😆🔥
We set up camp under a lovely overhanging boulder the size of a house, complete with a built out cooking table and marmot roommates. 🐻
We had finally ARRIVED! 🤩✨🏔️
