Is this for the Jack Tobin homicide? 🤔 Tobin was gunned down outside his Raccoon Rd apartment on 7/25/1979. We’re told the cops found the getaway car, a ski mask, and a shotgun not far away.

The Austintown Police Department applied for a grant for new forensic testing on a cold case homicide.

When the Feds came down in the late 1990s, Lenny Strollo, Bernie Altshuler, Jeff Riddle, and LaVance Turnage were all going to trial. By the time the others realized that Strollo himself had flipped, it was too late for the remaining three. They were all tried, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison.

In the first half of the 20th century, Youngstown was a “wide open” town, controlled by the mob. With guys from Buffalo, Detroit, St. Louis and other places all operating in Youngstown, it was considered an open city up until the 1960s. That’s when the Cleveland and Pittsburgh crime families firmly established control.
