Twenty years ago this week, Matthias Media North America started taking orders.

A friend once told me, โ€œYouโ€™ve really given your life to getting other peopleโ€™s materials into the hands of churches.โ€ I took that as one of the kindest compliments Iโ€™ve received.

But why spend 20 years doing this? Why โ€œsell booksโ€ when there are already plenty of Christian resources out there?

As we mark two decades in North America, Iโ€™ve been reflecting less on the milestone itself and more on the purpose behind it โ€” the same purpose that compelled me to start this work and still keeps us going today: โ€œI believed, and so I spoke."

The ministry of Matthias Media existed then and exists now to persuade all Christians of the truth of Godโ€™s Word such that they believe so much that they canโ€™t help but speak that powerful word to whomever they are in front of, wherever they are- in the home, in the world and in the fellowship of Godโ€™s people.

This is exactly what happened to me when I first came in contact with the resources of the Australian-based Matthias Media and under the teaching of its founder, Phillip Jensen. I brought some Matthias resources home with me after a trip to England in 2000, and almost immediately ordered more.

My hope is that youโ€™ll continue to be compelled by the Gospel and enthused to want to speak it to all people in your midst and help all those people to do the same. And I hope you will keep the momentum going by supporting us to that end.

Twenty years in the U.S. seems like a great excuse to celebrate with a hot dog bar (!), author meet-and-greets, a warehouse tour and fellowship with friends.

Our two Aussie friends from the Matthias Media Sydney office will be joining us to sign their new books, along with local youth pastor and author Kyle Hoffsmith of Old North Church, Canfield and Youth Ministry and the Vine.
