The first half of December is favored to be colder than average, according to the U.S. Climate Prediction Center. This is in line with our December forecast; likely the most anomalously cool of the three-month winter season.

Saturday 6:15p | Areawide snow will begin later on in the evening. As snow is falling, temperatures will rise which will allow for flakes to change to drops Sunday AM. Everything will be gone by lunchtime. Most of the area will get a slushy coating - 2".

6:10P | According to area radars, snow is just moving into our area. However, due to dry air aloft, much of the locations within the yellow circle aren't reporting that precipitation actually falling to the ground. This type of precipitation is called virga and is not that uncommon around this time of year. Snow should start falling to the ground later on in the evening.

After tonight's light snow and a few snow flurries late Sunday into Sunday night: a midweek system will bring some snow to the region. We don't think it'll be a big storm, but enough to cause some slower-than-usual travel conditions, especially Tuesday morning.
